Carpet Stains Glues and Adhesives

While working on your favorite hobby or doing household repairs occasionally accidents happen and glue or other adhesives may get spilled onto your carpeted floor. Many of these stains and products can be removed with minimal effort. Using the rights products and following a few steps you should be able to get your carpet looking like new.

We will use the same approach in treating both glue and adhesives. First you want to remove as much of the glue/adhesive as possible by using a spatula, spoon or blunt object, do not use a knife as this may cut and damage the carpet. Next apply a tar, adhesive or grease remover to the area and let soak for 5-10 minutes. Many of these products are found at your local hardware store. Blot the area with a clean white cloth, (DO NOT SCRUB, this will damage the fibers).

To finish treating the stain rinse the area with clean cold water and blot dry with a clean white cloth, removing as mush excess water as possible. Finally spot dry the area with a blow dryer using a circular motion. Make sure you set the blow dryer to blow cold air and not hot air as the heat could damage the carpet fibers.
