Self Propelled Vacuum

Manufactures of vacuum cleaners seem to always be coming out with creative new ideas to make the chore of vacuuming easier for consumers.  One such idea is the self-propelled vacuum cleaner, which operates using a basic transmission, and with a simple pull of the lever or grip, the vacuum is self-propelled forward or reverse.

The self-propelled models take very little effort to operate if you are going straight ahead or straight backwards, it gets a little tricky when you start to move around corners and through furniture. This is mainly caused by the excess weight from the transmission. Working on stairs or carrying it up and down the stairs is where you really notice the difference of the extra weight.

Is it worth the extra cost of a having a self-propelled machine? Only you can decide. Weight is an issue for some, but if your home has a lot of carpeted floor area, it may be just the thing to make your vacuuming job a lot easier.
