Carpet Stain Removal

There are many different types of stains but hopefully some of these carpet stain removal tips will help control or remove most of those nasty stains.

Color: Before attempting to treat your carpet, test a small inconspicuous spot to ensure color fastness. Some carpeting may bleed when you apply your stain cleaner, if this happens you have guarded yourself from haveing it located in a highly visible area.

Blot Stains: When treating your stain with whatever stain remover you like, never rub the stain, always blot the stain. Repeat as necessary using the clean dry part of the cloth each time.

New Stains: Remove as much of the liquid (blotting not rubbing) with a dry clean cloth. The stain should be treated, usually with a spray stain remover, until lightly damp do not soak the stain. Once the stain area has dried go over the area with your vacuum cleaner to lift the pile of the carpet.

Older Stains: Treat the area with your stain remover as you would for new stains but this time let it soak in for about a minute. Blot the stained area with a clean dry cloth, repeat as required. Some stain removers have a built in brush which you may try, use a small circular motion when using a brush.

Vinegar: Using straight vinegar is a very good stain remover. Whatever product you try always try it on a small inconspicuous location.
